The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted five operations in Islamabad, Mianwali and Quetta, which resulted in recovery of 55 kilograms of charas and heroin-filled capsules, the spokesman for the ANF Headquarters said.
The ANF arrested 5 drug traffickers, including two Nigerians, in the raids. The value of recovered drugs is approximately Rs135.3 million in the international market.
The ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team during routine checking at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, detained a Nigerian woman — Justina Nkem Odozi — on suspicion of having gulped heroin-filled capsules. During initial interrogation, she confessed to having ingested heroin-filled capsules. She was shifted to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Rawalpindi, for recovery of heroin capsules. She intended to board for Ivory Coast by an Oman Airlines flight (WY-346).
The ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team during routine checking at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, detained another Nigerian — Ezenwa John — who confessed to having gulped heroin-filled capsules. The accused was proceeding for Doha by a Qatar Airlines flight (QR-615).
The ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team in another raid apprehended two passengers — Wahid Gul and Khan Baz — residents of Hangu, who confessed tof having heroin-filled capsules in their stomachs. They intended to take off for Ras-al-Khema by an Air Arabia Airlines flight (G9-829).
The ANF Lahore Road Check Team intercepted a motorcycle (applied for) near Shahbaz Khel Morr, Kala Bagh Road, Mianwali, and arrested a local drug supplier namely Ali Asghar, resident of Mianwali, along with recovery of 3 kilograms of charas from his possession. As per initial reports, accused is involved in supply of drugs to local drug peddlers.
ANF Quetta in an intelligence-led operation seized 52 kilograms of charas from general area of Pishunkan, Tehsil & District Gwadar. According to details, charas was concealed at an uninhabited site far away from the populated area. It was stuffed in 26 plastic packets, each weighing two kilograms. As per preliminary reports, the drug was intended to be handed over to a narcotics gang.
