Students of Preparatory School, Islamabad, paid glowing tributes to the martyred children of Army Public School (APS), Peshawar, on their Sports Day.
The Sports Day started off with an impressive and colourful march past by students from Pre-Nursery to O’ Levels who took oath to uphold sportsman’s spirit and discipline during the games.
The Sports Day was witnessed by a large number of parents who actively participated in the events by keenly supporting participating students.
The three school houses — ‘Courage, Endeavour, and Honour’ — competed against one another in closely-contested athletic events. The athletes representing each house contested each event with zeal and vigour to come out victorious. It was a sight to see the children with bright faces beaming with pride supporting their respective houses.
The Sports Day events included colourful group displays which included impressive PT drills, beautifully synchronised aerobics and challenging gymnastic displays. The evening ended with a theme song with all of the children joining amidst sparkling fireworks in the background.
In the end, Principal Shabnam Ashraf awarded the trophy to the winners, congratulating all students for actively participating in the Sports Day in a disciplined manner.
The keenly contested events and the spirit of friendly competition displayed by students, staff and parents alike made the Sports Day a memorable event particularly for the students and their parents. The event also symbolised that given the necessary facilities and encouragement, the youth of Pakistan is ready to rise and shine.
