Pak-China Business Forum 2015 commenced on March 27 and like first two days the third day was a success too. Different parallel activities at different venues at Pak-China Friendship Centre, Islamabad, were held all day long.
B2B seminars, workshops, panel discussions, signing of MoUs and exhibition marked the day.
Biomedical Materials was the topic of Sunday’s Thematic Area. A series of seminars on Thematic Area was held in which speakers discussed the Biotechnology and Public Health: Challenges & Potential. Mr. Anwar Naseem chaired the session.
Dr. M. Azeem Khan, Director General (NARC), Islamabad; Dr. Abdul Rauf Shakoori, Director, School of Biological Sciences, University of the Punjab; Khawaja Asif Mehboob, GM Broiler Production Sadiq Poultry, Rawalpindi; Dr. Pirzada Jamaludin Ahmed Siddiqui, Director and Professor Centre of Excellence in Marine Biology University of Karachi; Dr. Mujahid, Chair/Principle SCME, NUST, Islamabad, and Dr. Irshad Hussain, Associate Professor, SBASSEE, LUMS, discussed in detail topic related to their respective fields which were all very informative and audience showed keen interest in them.
Important key milestone B2B MoUs were signed between business conglomerates from China and COMSATS Institute of Information Technology for the development of a ‘Commodity Exhibition and Trade Center’ at Islamabad and the facilitation of access to the Pakistani market by the businesses from China. The MOUs would also entail the presence of Chinese businesses in the Center to conduct joint R & D with the academia and businesses in Pakistan for enhancing economic activity in both the countries through the development of high-tech high-value added products from various industrial sectors.
The research productivity awards ceremony were also held where around 950 researchers from various faculties of all campuses were given certificates and cash awards on their outstanding performance in terms of research. The ceremony was chaired by the Rector CIIT and was presided by Dean ORIC. Certificates were distributed among researchers of Faculty of Science, Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Information Science and Technology and Faculty of Engineering.
The venue was over populous with large number of government officials, politicians, business men, industrialists, young ladies and students were there to witness the spectacular show.
Students from about twenty five colleges of Rawalpindi and Islamabad marked the occasion. Their interest was mainly the stalls displaying information about energy technologies, communication technologies and biomedical materials. A great number of ladies were found hovering around jewelry, cosmetics and garments merchandise. Solar driven cars attracted youth and innovative minded people. A large multitude of Chinese was also there at various stalls.
Despite rain, people from various walks of life kept pouring in throughout the day. According to an estimate, about 30,000 visitors witnessed the event.
