CDA starts vigorous drive to remove illegal billboards

Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started vigorous campaign to remove illegally installed billboards and other advertisement boards from the city.
A spokesman for CDA on Friday said that especially constituted teams of Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) are conducting operations across the board and have initially removed 38 billboards and pylons (moppies) from different areas of Islamabad.
The authority has also set the target of the revenue of directorate of Municipal Administration to Rs600 million in the next fiscal year by fixing loop holes and ensuring transparency. During different operations teams of DMA removed seven roof top billboards from Markaz F-10 and F-11, which were not only causing financial loss to the authority, but were also posing continuous threats to life safety of the general public visiting these centres. Similarly, 21 billboards of different sizes were also removed, which were installed illegally along the Kurri Road. During another operation, teams of DMA completely cleared the area of Bekha Syedaan and removed four billboards installed illegally in the area.
