March 23 has a special significance in the history of Pakistan. The day commemorates the adoption of Pakistan Resolution in 1940 where our Quaid Muhammad Ali Jinnah demanded a separate homeland for Muslims. The dream that our ‘Poet of the East’ Allama Muhammad Iqbal saw, set its foundation in the history of the world at Minto Park, Lahore, on this day.
The students of Roots Millennium Schools (RMS) had the honour of participating and hosting the Pakistan Day celebrations recorded at Aiwan-e-Sadr in presence of the President Mamnoon Hussain and the First Lady. Ambassadors, senior diplomats, dignitaries & celebrities were also present at the event, says a press release.
The theme of the programme was ‘Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan’. The celebrations comprised of performances on national songs and cultural items which were presented by the young students.
The true colours of Pakistan were depicted by the students who looked adorable dressed up in the traditional outfits. The recitation from the Holy Quran sent the message of stability and peace. The performance on the national song ‘Sohni Dharti’ filled the air with a renewed spirit of nationalism and patriotism.
The Millennials added grace to the beautiful song from the past. A special tribute to the victims of the APS Peshawar performed by the Millennials deeply touched the hearts of the audience and brought tears to the eyes of many who were present at the event. The captivating performances by the RMS students left everyone in a state of ecstasy. The Millennium Schools was one of the very few schools selected from across Pakistan to take part in these celebrations.
At the Presidency the patriotic emotions were set on fire with presentations on national songs like ‘Tera Pakistan hai Yeh Mera Pakistan Hai’, ‘Iss Parcham Kay Saaye Talay’, ‘Aey Watan Hum Hain Teray’, ‘Aao Bacho Sair Keraein’, ‘Saathiyo Mujahido’, ‘Youn Di Humain Azadi’ and ‘Colours of Pakistan’ were also depicted by a Cultural Dress Show.
At the grand finale the young Millennials performed on the song ‘Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan’. The President and the First Lady were overwhelmed with the performances and went up to the stage to appreciate and encourage the students.
The programme concluded with the address of the President who reminded the students about the sacrifices of our forefathers for the creation of a separate homeland. The significance of 23rd March was highlighted in his address and he called upon the youth of Pakistan to be aware of their responsibilities as passionate citizens. He emphasised that every Pakistani must resolve to work towards making Pakistan as one of the greatest nations of the world. In his address he highly commended the performances presented. He appreciated students present on the occasion. The students also got the opportunity to take memorable photographs with the President and the First Lady.
Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq, TI Chief Executive Roots Millennium Schools, Director Mrs. Sabina Zakir and senior managers were also present on this auspicious occasion. Faisal Mushtaq said that promoting nationalism and producing conscious citizens is at the heart of education at RMS and he was extremely proud to see his students exhibit their love and passion for their homeland at such a worthy platform.
