* You are in caloric balance (you are consuming about the same number of calories that your body is using) if you are maintaining a steady body weight.
* You are in caloric excess (consuming more calories than your body is using) if you are gaining weight.
* You are in caloric deficit (consuming fewer calories than your body is using) if you are losing weight.
