The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has incorporated some new courses, as per future requirements, in undergraduate and graduate curriculum of Agriculture Engineering.
The up-gradation was made in a meeting of National Curriculum Revision Committee (NCRC) held in Higher Education Commission (HEC). The meeting was held to review and update curriculum of Agricultural Engineering. Previously, the Agriculture Engineering curriculum was revised and circulated by HEC in 2010.
The committee thoroughly reviewed and updated the curriculum at bachelors and masters level including knowledge about latest developments and innovations in the field of engineering around the globe.
Some new courses, as per future requirements, were also coined. To keep the curriculum at par with HEC and Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) guidelines, a representative from PEC was also included in the Committee. It was also emphasized that for various courses requiring hands-on experience, the students will be required to draw maps by hand besides using simulation techniques.
Speaking to the participants, Director General (Academics) HEC Fida Hussain said that agriculture is backbone of Pakistan’s economy and revamping of Agricultural Engineering curriculum will be of great importance for agro-based industry.
