The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will explore the avenues to develop its interaction with the educational institutions in the Muslim countries to promote research work, as a follow-up of VCs Forum held here on February 23 and 24.
Commenting on the outcome VCs Forum, AIOU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui said it provided an opportunity to interact with leaders of the educational institutions of the Muslim countries and to learn from each other and share the weaknesses and strength of one another.
It was an excellent initiative on the part of HEC and Comsats, to develop collaborative partnership among the Muslim countries in the educational sector.
Dr. Siddiqui hoped that the collaboration will help consolidate existing educational programs, undertaken by the participating educational institutions.
About the outcome of the two-day deliberations, he
said it paved the way of new initiatives.
The Forum deliberated upon the challenges faced by the Islamic countries and explored the creative solution to overcome such challenges.
The Forum, he further said was also a step forward, carrying out research work in the relevant areas and disseminate the findings among the Muslim countries’ educational institutions. The Forum opened new avenues for cooperative partnership in research and development sector.
The role of the universities as centres of research, teaching and excellence has assumed greater importance, he said adding the AIOU at its level will be doing its best to achieve the desired goals.
Nearly 300 vice chancellors, rectors, presidents of the universities of higher education institutions of the Islamic countries attended the VC Forum. The forum provided a platform to the university leaders in the Islamic countries in forging linkages for initiating joint academic programmes; promoting research; pooling resources; offering scholarships; promoting exchange of students; establishing centres of excellence.
