Islamabad: The National Review of Curriculum Committee will meet tomorrow (Monday) and the day after tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council offices here to review MBBS/BDS curriculum.
The meeting will be jointly organised by the PMDC and Higher Education Commission. HEC Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmad will be the guest of honour there.
PMDC President Professor Dr Masood Hameed told reporters here that there was a dire need to update the MBBS/BDS curriculum in the country.
“The MBBS/ BDS curriculum is going to be revised after almost after 10 years. We intend to revise it to bring it on a par with international standards. The meeting of the National Review of Curriculum Committee is the continuation of the process for revising curriculum according to international standards,” he said.
The PMDC president said the agenda of the meeting was to change the traditional medical and dental course to integrated and modular system of education. He said it was expected that the PMDC curriculum standard setting would be enhanced and that the minimum requirements for training institutions would be invigorated.
“Both PMDC and HEC are keen and enthusiastic about developing a curriculum, which not only meets our national requirements but also international standards,” he said.
