The Federal Directorate of Education has directed the principals, focal persons and guards of the capital city’s all government schools to remain on duty from 8 a.m. to sunset to help the police and intelligence personnel conduct ‘security audit’ of their respective campuses smoothly.
The city has around 420 schools, which are overseen by the FDE.
During the security audit ordered in light of terrorist threats, the police and intelligence personnel will identify risks to safety of schools and by examining security checks, including boundary walls, security guards, metal detectors, walk-through gates, closed-circuit television cameras, emergency exits, and owners of private vans engaged by students.
The city’s both government and private schools as well as colleges and universities have been closed until January 9 for security reasons. They will resume classes on January 12.
