The schools and colleges with poor security arrangements will not be allowed to reopen on January 12 at the end of the ongoing winter vacation.
This was decided during a meeting chaired by the city’s chief commissioner here.
As decided by the meeting, five teams consisting of the officials of the police, Federal Directorate of Education and representatives of private schools will carry out ‘security audit’ of the city’s educational institutions to identify risks to their security.
The teams will grant permission to resume classes to only those educational institutions, which have adequate security checks.
Those failing to ensure security of their students and staff will face action.
The police have already distributed to schools, colleges and universities the forms seeking information about boundary walls, security guards, metal detectors, walkthrough gates, closed-circuit television cameras, emergency exits, and owners of private vans engaged by students. After filling, these forms are to be returned to the police before the winter vacation ends.
