The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad Police have busted a gang of robbers and recovered two motorbikes and weapons from their possession, the police spokesman said on Wednesday.

 

SP (Investigation) Mustansar Feeroz constituted a special team, headed by CIA DSP Zubair Ahmed Sheikh and including Inspector Ashraf Kahut, Sub-Inspector Mukhtar Hussain, ASIs Muhammad Haneef, Muhammad Riaz and Tasneem Ahmed.

 

The team conducted a raid on the hideout of robbers in Sector G-13 near the railway bridge and arrested five members of the gang besides recovering two motorbikes, three pistols and two daggers from their possession. The nabbed men were identified as Sajid Zaman Abbasi, son of Mir Zaman Abbasi; Khan Wali, son of Dad Jan; Hamid Ejaz ul Haq Ansari, son of Ejaz ul Haq Ansari; Muneeb Shah, son of Mazhar Shah, and Aqib Azaad, son of Haji Azad.

 

The arrested men confessed to committing robberies in various localities of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Their physical remand has been obtained from the concerned court and further investigation is underway from them.
