The district police authorities were worried over the disclosure that some weapons were snatched from two responsible police officers of the district by the miscreants or stolen from their jeeps when they escaped leaving their vehicles behind during the clash between the angry mob and police party at Faizabad on Friday.

 

A high-level inquiry has been initiated by the regional police chief office for fixing responsibilities regarding missing or snatching of valuable weapons, reliable sources told ‘The News’.

 

The sources disclosed that an SMG (small machine gun) and an Italian Brita Pistol were snatched or stolen from the jeeps of two top police officers responsible for keeping law and order and tackling protest demonstration, taken out against blasphemous film. The sources said that two officers parked their vehicles at a CNG station and went to rear side of the gas station to observe the law and order situation, adding that as the angry mob attacked the jeeps of those two officers and started damaging the CNG station, both the officers hid in the office of the gas station to save their lives.

 

The police, however, gave stance uncontrolled mob attacked the CNG station, burnt six police vehicles including two jeeps of SSP and SP and took away weapons and other items from jeeps.

 

Sadiqabad Police, in this regard, lodge an FIR No.328, registered by SHO Sadiqabad Tahir Abbas Kazmi, saying that SI Sadatqat Hussain was present at Kundan CNG station with police force when all the police vehicles were shifted to rear parking lot of the CNG station on the order of SSP (Operation) Dr. Akhtar Abbas.

 

In the meantime, an angry mob comprising of about 5,000 people, protesting against blasphemous film, incited when the SSP (Operations) asked them to disperse and started damaging the CNG station. They smashed four vehicles including a bike, parked in the premises of the CNG station, said the FIR, adding that the angry mob, later, stormed into the rear parking of the CNG station where police vehicles were parked, and stole mobile phone set, helmet, wireless set, chest guard and other items from the jeep of SSP (Operations) and stole 9MM pistol and briefcase from the jeep of SP (Rawal) and torched five police vehicles including jeeps of SSP (Operations) and SP (Rawal).

 

The FIR said that they snatched short gun from Ahmad, gunman of SP (Rawal), adding that the attackers shot indiscriminate firing before leaving the position. The police nominate four attackers identified as Saif Khan, Izzat Khan, Asif and Wasif, among 5,000 attackers.

 

Meanwhile, Pirwadhai and New Town Police stations lodged FIRs against unknown people and arrested 25 people for damaging the private property and injuring SHO New Town Raja Abdul Qayyum.
