ISLAMABAD: People, especially youngsters, are now least interested in buying traditional Eid cards due to availability of technologically driven e-cards at cheaper rates.

The stalls selling Eid cards in various commercial markets in the twin cities are receiving very low number of shoppers and most of the stallholders are regretting their decision to invest their money in this business.

Eid cards are available with same old prints of flowers and hearts in various colour schemes. With increasing price hike the rate of these cards also witnessed considerable rise and it may be the main cause of disinterest among people.

The tradition of sending Eid cards started dying out with the advent of internet-based e-mail. The use of computer was not that common, so it took some more time for Eid cards to loose their utility among the people.

“E-cards have become a major attraction for the people who now purchase electronic cards and edit and modify them on their own,” said Tauqeer Naqvi, a student of local university.

There are also many who do not think that paper Eid cards are going to die down in the coming years.
