The out of order auto teller machines (ATMs) of different banks in Islamabad and Rawalpindi are creating problems for the public on Eidul Fitr.

People are seen searching for the ‘working’ ATMs to draw cash. Most of the time the ATMs remain out of order when the salaried class people frequently use ATMs to draw their salaries.

People told ‘The News’ that most ATMs in Rawalpindi are not working. They said that they have contacted the bank officials but didn’t receive any satisfactory response. “In these days, people need fast cash, as most of them go for shopping with their families but they face immense problems when they find ATMs out of order,” they said.

Imran Ali said that he has searched almost all ATMs in the vicinity but most of them are not working. He said: “If we have to stand in long queues then what is the purpose of ATMs. The concerned authorities should take notice of negligence of bank officials and bound them to provide quality service to their account-holders.”

“The ATMs are considered to be a source of relief for people in need of fast cash, but now they have become a problem for us at the time of need, especially on occasions like Eid,” said Jamshed Khan.

He said that the ATMs would remain without cash because of the weekend before Eid. “Banks officials should take notice of this problem and make sure that ATMs are in working condition, especially when banks are closed,” he added.
