As part of its talent hunt campaign and to motivate youth towards extracurricular activities, the Punjab government is holding ‘Punjab Sports and Youth Festival’ in all districts of the province from August 25.

 

On the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif the festival would start at village level including competitions in nine games as well as declamation contest, ‘Qiraat’, ‘Naat Khwani’ and painting competitions among the students. Cash prizes would be given to winning individuals and teams.

 

Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab for Sports and Tourism Chaudhry Muhammad Zakir, stated this in a meeting held here Thursday. Secretary Sports Punjab Haroon Ahmed, Commissioner Rawalpindi Imdad Ullah Bosal, Divisional Sports Coordinator Sports Festival MNA Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, PML-N leaders Amir Muhammad Khan Tamman, Mehwish, Shaukat Aziz Bhatti, DCOs of Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal and Attock and other officials attended the meeting.

 

DCOs of all districts briefed the meeting about the arrangements being made in their respective districts for the festival. MNA Muhamamd Hanif Abbasi said that the festival would be organised in a befitting manner. Party workers, elected representatives and office-bearers of PML-N would make this event a success.

 

He demanded funds for the installation of floodlights in newly constructed Shahnaz Sheikh Hockey Stadium and the finalisation of cricket ground at Government Comprehensive High School, Dhoke Kashmirian.
