A gang of armed men committed a robbery at a farmhouse in Shahzad Town and took away Rs5.5 million cash and gold ornaments worth millions of rupees at ‘Sehri’ time after holding the family members at gunpoint, police said.
Police said that Mohammad Ayub was living in the 40-kanal farmhouse along with his family for the last 15 years. Seven gunmen sneaked into the farmhouse from backside and held all family members at gunpoint when they were taking ‘Sehri’ meal. The intruders collected Rs5.5 million cash and gold ornaments.
In the meantime, the Shahzad Town Police reached the scene after receiving a telephone call about the presence of dacoits in the farmhouse and cordoned it off. Policemen fired in the air, but gunmen managed to escape from the scene.
According to police, they used sniffing dogs to make headway to the dacoits and marked the hideout, adding that a dacoit with a black tooth has been identified and would be arrested soon.
