Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Munibur Rehman Monday announced that the people should pay ‘Sadqah Fitr’ or ‘Fitrana’ and Fidya according to a set minimum benchmark of Rs80 per head in proportionate to the flour price.
In a statement, Mufti Munib has said as per barley price, ‘Fitrana’ amount stands at Rs220, Rs1,120 as per date price and Rs1,600 as per raisin price.If any one had been unable to keep fast for the whole month of Ramadan, he or she should pay Fidya as compensation worth Rs2,400 in proportionate to flour price, Rs6,600 for barley, Rs33,600 for date and Rs48000 for raisin.
Likewise, the benchmark for penance for false swearing has been set at Rs800, Rs2,200, Rs11,200 and Rs16,000 respectively.Mufti Munibur Rehman said real spirit of Fitr and Fidya is two-time meal of a destitute person that costs around Rs100 a day at hotel, so it is better these are paid at Rs100 for a day.However, those who are wealthier, they should try to pay more to extend assistance to the poor in this time of skyrocketing inflation.
