Rawalpindi: District Consumer Protection Council, Rawalpindi, Tuesday sent legal notice to the Rawalpindi Transport Authority (RTA) secretary and directed him to decrease the fares of public transport, as the prices of petroleum products had recently been decreased.
The legal notice was sent on behalf of Sajid Mehmood with the claim that the fares of public transport were increased immediately with the increase in the prices of petroleum products, whereas when the prices came down by Rs10 to Rs20, the fares remained the same and there was no relief for general public. The notice said that the transporters are still getting fare of Rs15 from stop-to-stop.
It is written in the notice that if the RTA secretary will not decrease the fares, then he will be called in the District Consumer Court, Rawalpindi.
