The city district government, Rawalpindi, is finalising arrangements to establish 14 ‘Ramazan sasta bazaars’ to provide all kitchen items at subsidised rates to the people during the holy month of Ramazan.
The spokesman of the city district government said that arrangements in this regard are being finalised and all out efforts in accordance with the special directives of the chief minister Punjab would be made to provide relief to the citizens particularly during the holy month of Ramazan. A special meeting that will be chaired by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Saqib Zafar in this connection would be held next week.
He said, “Ramazan sasta bazaars’ would be set up in Rawalpindi City and cantonment board areas at Committee Chowk, Nawaz Sharif Park, Dhoke Kala Khan, Chungi No 22, Chore Chowk and Liaquat Bagh.
The citizens will be able to purchase all kitchen items including ‘atta’ sugar, dal, basin, meat, chicken, onion, potatoes and ghee at subsidised rates, which will be 15 per cent to 30 per cent less than open market rates. Fresh vegetables, fruits and dates would also be available in these bazaars. He said that special price control magistrates would be appointed in each bazaar to keep check on the prices and quality of the kitchen items. All possible facilities for the convenience of the citizens would also be provided there.
Price magistrates would not only check the rates in ‘Ramazan Bazaars’ but also in the open market particularly during Ramazan.
