The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad Police has busted a gang of car-snatchers during a raid on their hideout at Kirpa in the area of Koral. Five men were arrested and weapons and a car were recovered from their possession, a police spokesman said.

 

On a tip-off, CIA In-Charge Bashir Ahmed Noon constituted a special team under his supervision, including ASIs Haider, Zafar Iqbal and others, which raided the hideout of car-snatchers and arrested them when they were planning to commit another crime.

 

The nabbed men were identified as Ismail, son of Nur Muhammad; Nishat Kiani, son of Muhammad Akhtar, residents of Harnot, Islamabad; Aslam, son of Muhammad Azam, resident of Peshawar; Adnan, son of Muhammad Saleem, resident of Chattha Bakhtawar, Islamabad; Amaar Yaseen, son of Muhammad Yaseen, resident of Jhangi Syedan, Islamabad.

 

The CIA also recovered four pistols and a car in the raid.

 

During preliminary investigation, they confessed to their involvement in 10 car-snatching incidents in areas in the jurisdiction of Shahzad Town, Nilore and Secretariat police stations.

 

Case numbers 244/12, 196/12, 194/12 under Section 392 have been registered against them at the Shahzad Town Police Station; case numbers 205/12, 23/12, 30/12, 43/12, 47/2012 under Section 392 registered at Nilore Police Station, while case numbers 87/2012 and 127/12 have been registered at the Secretariat Police Station.
