Belgian award for school welcomed

Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs & Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sandhu has said the Belgian Heritage Award for Sacred Heart Cathedral Lahore by Belgium is a great honour for Pakistan.
He was addressing the function of the Belgian Heritage Award at Sacred Heart Cathedral Lawrence Road on Saturday. Ambassador of Belgium Frederic Verheyden, his wife, U.S. Consul General Lahore, Zachary Harkenrider, Belgian Consul General Karel Van Hecke, Honoray Consul General, Archbishop of Lahore Sebastian Shaw, Father Mani, Bishops, sisters and people attended the function in large numbers.
Special prayer function was arranged at the cathedral Church in connection with the award ceremony in which Archbishop of Lahore especially prayed for the promotion of religious harmony, tolerance, peace and stability and security of the country. Belgian Ambassador and American Consul General also addressed the function and congratulated Sacred Heart Cathedral on achieving the heritage award.
Khalil Tahir Sandhu, on behalf of chief minister Punjab, congratulated the Christian community and the entire nation on achieving the heritage award. He disclosed that the Belgian Embassy in Brussels had received applications all over the world for the Heritage Award out of which three were selected and Sacred Heart Cathedral was one of them.
The minister said Sacred Heart Cathedral has a unique architecture, which had been completed with the help of Belgium in 1907. Khalil Tahir Sandhu said the award aimed not only to appreciate the ancient historical heritage but also protect it in future.
