CM opens latest system forsafe landing at airport

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated the latest instrument landing system CAT-IIIB(ILS) at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, for safe landing of planes during fog on Saturday.
The chief minister unveiled the instrument landing system project and also offered dua besides inspecting the modern instrument landing system installed on the runway of the airport. Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Civil Aviation Shuja Azeem apprised the chief minister of the features of the latest instrument landing system. Shahbaz Sharif congratulated Shuja Azeem and Civil Aviation authorities on installing the modern instrument landing system for safe landing of planes in fog.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore was the first airport of Pakistan and the second international airport of South Asia where the modern system had been installed and planes would land safely in thick fog and the schedule of flights would not be affected. Earlier, a briefing was given to the chief minister about the modern instrument landing system.
Shahbaz Sharif said that due to installation of the modern system at Allama Iqbal International Airport, safe landing of flights would be ensured in fog or bad weather. No doubt, it is an important project which has been completed by Civil Aviation in a record period, upon which, it deserves appreciation, he added. The chief minister said that not only safe landing of planes would be ensured in fog and inclement weather through the modern technology but time will also be saved.
He said that Civil Aviation authorities had achieved an important milestone by installing the system for the convenience of the passengers and expressed the hope that the modern system would also be installed at other airports of the country. He said that with the inauguration of the new system, pilots would not only be able to safely land but the arrival and departure of flights would also be on time. Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah, MNAs Pervaiz Malik, Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmed, Members Provincial Assembly Kh Imran Nazir, Mian Naseer, Kh Ahmed Hasaan and senior officials were also present.
CM leaves for UK: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif left for the UK on an official visit on Saturday.
During the visit, the chief minister will meet British officials and heads of different institutions.
He will also meet expatriate Pakistanis, besides holding meetings with British ministers and addressing the UK-Pakistan Energy and Infrastructure Forum. According to a handout on Saturday, talking at the airport before his departure to London, Shahbaz Sharif said that Britain was an important trade partner of Pakistan and it attached great importance to its relations with Britain. He said that during the visit, talks would be held with Britain authorities for cooperation in education, health and other social sectors. He said that there were friendly relations between Pakistan and Britain and due to his visit to the UK, mutual ties between them would be promoted.
