Q1: My marks in matriculation were 75 percent and in ICS I have scored 65 percent. In LLB (Hons), I have managed to secure 79 percent. I want to go abroad in any renowned American or British University for LLM in Human Rights Law on scholarship basis. Please advise me what should I do? (Zahid Nawaz - Lahore)Ans: If you have completed your LLB Hons with 79 percent and you are registered with the Bar in Pakistan. All you need to do is a good IELTS score not less than 7.0 overall. Try to work on your personal statement as to apply for LLM you need to have a very strong personal statement along with reference letters and if you have work experience in the relevant field then it would work very positive for you. For LLM there are different scholarships available but not more the 50 percent; so you need to check your finance accordingly before applying.
Q2: I am student of BABS (Hon) and my major is Political Science and it is my final year. I am planning to do my MPhil from Germany. Kindly suggest me what should I do? What are the best future options for me? Also tell me the best German universities where I should apply? (Mumtaz Ali – Wazirabad)
Ans: There are great opportunities for further studies in political science combined with international relations, public policy and development studies. I am sure you would get a number of opportunities to do you postgraduate degree from Germany; however, this will mainly depend on two factors: Your final GPA in your Hons Degree and a good IELTS score of not less than 6.0 in each band.
Q3: I have passed FSc with 81 percent marks and now want to have admission in Engineering. Kindly tell me which Engineering I should choose among Geological Engineering, Telecom Engineering, Materials Engineering or Architecture. What is best for girls in Pakistan and which university is best for this purpose? (Farah Naz – Karachi)
Ans: I would suggest you to choose the following areas of specialisation for your bachelor’s degree and all of them are available throughout major universities in Pakistan these are also relevant to you as a female gender. BSc Telecom and Communication Engineering, BSc Information Systems or BSc Electronics and Communication Engineering. I would not suggest any other subject areas that will involve a huge amount of outdoor or fieldwork such as geology or architecture.
Q4: Currently, I am student of 4th semester in Computer Science but now I am losing interest in my studies and journalism seems more interesting to me. My question is can I take admission in BA Journalism now and I will join evening classes? Can I do two different degrees at the same time? (Muhammad Anis – Gujrat)
Ans: I will not suggest that you change your subject in 4th semester nor can you do two degrees at the same time. It is not legally possible. I would like you to complete your BSc computer science and then look for a top up MSc that perhaps will help you and support you in finding career opportunities within Journalism. Multimedia specialty in computer science area also leads to working in electronic journalism but you have to be careful when selecting your basic modules and I will be able to advise you once you have completed your bachelors degree.
