Man shot dead in front of schoolgoing daughter

LAHORE
A man was shot dead by three persons in front of his daughter in the Sanda area on Tuesday.
Three unidentified assailants intercepted Irfan Kashif of Rajgarh when he was on his way back home after picking up his daughter from a local school. The killers took the girl into their custody, made her stand alongside the road, fired at least six to seven shots at him and rode away from the scene.
The injured Irfan was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police shifted the body to morgue. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
Newborn found dead: A newborn baby girl was recovered dead from a park in Hajveri Town, Harbanspura on Tuesday. Harbanspura SHO Zulfiqar Butt said that an unidentified woman had thrown her newborn girl in a park in Hajveri Town, Harbanspura. The body was wrapped in a trouser, SHO Zulfiqar said, adding that the accused woman, yet to be identified, had given birth to an illegitimate baby girl whom she threw in the park to conceal her sin. Police shifted the body to morgue and registered a murder case against an unidentified woman.
COMMITS SUICIDE: A young man committed suicide by hanging himself in his flat in the Ghalib Market area on Tuesday.The deceased identified as Salim hailed from Skardu. It was reported that Salim was upset over his failure to get a job. On the day of the incident, Salim was found hanging with the ceiling of his rented flat he had shared with a friend. Body was shifted to morgue.
Two die: Two persons, including a woman, lost their lives in different road accidents here on Tuesday.
A lady doctor lost her life in a road accident in Raiwind City. The victim identified as Azra along with her son was on her way back home after morning stroll when a rashly-driven car hit her, resulting into her death. The car rider fled the scene. In another incident, a man identified as Junaid was killed when a rashly-driven rickshaw overturned in the Nawab Town area.
ARRESTED: Factory Area police arrested four drug pushers and bootleggers and recovered 3kg charas and 35litre liquor from their possession.Factory Area SHO Hammad Akhtar launched a crackdown against the drug pushers and bootleggers and rounded up Qaisar Ali and recovered one kilogramme charas from his possession. Similarly, police arrested Babar Butt, Ali Hamza and Dilawar Khan and recovered 2kg charas, 25 litre liquor and 10 litre liquor respectively from their possession.
ACCIDENTS: Total 643 road traffic accidents were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which 12 lives were lost and 480 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts. However, some 285 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by Emergency medical teams.
CRACKDOWN: City Traffic police took action against 75,082 vehicles with tinted glasses during a special crackdown here on Tuesday.Police also got impounded at least 897 such vehicles in various police station. CTO directed the SPs and DSPs to make the said crackdown a success besides ensuring smooth flow of traffic on city roads.
COURSE: A 12-member delegation of Management and Professional Development Department (MPDD) visited Rescue 1122 Headquarters on Tuesday in connection with 12th Public Policy & Governance (PPG) Promotional Course.The delegation inspected different functions of Punjab Emergency Service, including Provincial Monitoring Cell; Monitoring, Complaint Cell, Citizens Feedback System, Real Time Emergency Management Monitoring through IP Cameras and other departments as well.
Earlier, DG Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) welcomed the delegation, which comprised of Mehr Khalid Ahmad, Urban Unit P&D Department, Shahid Hassan Kalyani, District Officer (P&FTT), Ishratullah Khan Niazi, Deputy Secretariat, Muhammad Subhan, Governor Secretariat, Muhammad Shakir, Deputy Secretary, Labour & Human Resource Department, Muhammad Shabbir Bhatti, Deputy Secretary, LGCD, Dr. Nasim Fawad, Senior Veterinary Officer, Directorate of PRI Rawalpindi, Tahir Abbas Naz, Deputy Director, Local Fund Audit Punjab, Mahmud Ali, Senior Librarian, Government Islamia College, Railway Road, Lahore and Waqar Hussain, Deputy Secretary, Home Department. He briefed the delegation about it performance and its development into the largest emergency humanitarian service of Pakistan from a pilot project from Lahore in 2004 with limited resources.
He stated that Rescue 1122 had rescued over 3.7 emergency victims through its emergency ambulance service, rescue and fire service, water rescue teams and urban search and rescue teams during the past 11 years. He said that on the directions of the chief minister, Punjab, Urban Search & Rescue Teams (USAR) were being developed in all divisions of the Punjab, which shall be equipped with latest emergency tools and heavy machinery. During visit of the Provincial Monitoring Cell, the delegation was briefed about different systems of operations, rescue and monitoring through latest technology and software.
