Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday presided over a meeting which considered various proposals for promotion of quality education in schools and provision of modern training to the teachers.
Addressing the meeting, the chief minister directed that efforts should be made on emergent basis for promoting quality education and teachers’ training. He said that children of the common people had as much right over quality education as those of the elite and the Punjab government would ensure this right. He said that all necessary resources would be provided for this purpose. He directed that effective measures should be taken for the promotion of quality education.
He directed setting up of a committee headed by Provincial Minister for Education and Chief Secretary and said that the committee should submit final recommendations within seven days regarding promotion of quality education. He said that training of teachers on modern lines was of vital importance for promotion of quality education and a comprehensive training programme for teachers should be evolved for harmonising them with the modern needs. He said that arrangements should also be made at tehsil level for providing quality training to teachers and capacity-building of training institutions for teachers was the need of the hour. He said that the target of promotion of quality education could be achieved only through providing modern training to teachers.
Shahbaz Sharif directed that final recommendations should be submitted within 14 days for quality training of teachers.
SECURITY: Shahbaz Sharif on Friday reviewed security arrangements for the protection of life and property of the people on Youm-e-Ashur.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister directed that the security plan for Youm-e-Ashur should be strictly implemented. He said that Pakistan was passing through a critical phase and the enemy was bent upon damaging the country, so collective efforts should be made with the force of unity to foil the nefarious designs of the enemy. He said that better security arrangements have been made this year for the protection of life and property of citizens on Youm-e-Ashur than the previous years. He directed that law-enforcement agencies should utilise all their energies for ensuring peace and tranquility. He directed that the security plan for Majalis and religious processions should be fully implemented and no efforts be spared for maintaining law and order. He said that alternative arrangements for communication between law enforcement agencies and administration were essential and the institutions concerned should maintain a close contact. He said that senior police and administrative officers should accompany mourning processions and monitor security arrangements. He said that arrangements should also be made for food and tea for police officials on duty.
MESSAGE: Shahbaz Sharif has said that Hazrat Imam Hussain and his faithful companions wrote a new chapter of Islamic history by sacrificing their lives for a noble cause. He said that the sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala are a beacon of light for Muslims. He said that by their supreme sacrifice, Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions gave the lesson not to bow before the forces of evil. He said that martyrs of Karbala had eternalised the Islamic principles of truth and steadfastness.
In his message on Youm-e-Ashur, the chief minister said that the tragic incident at Karbala reminds of the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions for upholding truth. He said the incident at Karbala gives a message of tolerance, sacrifice and steadfastness and by acting upon this principle, a peaceful society can be established.
harmony: Shahbaz Sharif has said that promotion of religious harmony, brotherhood and tolerance is the need of the hour and the Punjab government has taken effective measures for this purpose.
He expressed these views while in a meeting with Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf. The chief minister said that role of Ulema and Mashaikh was of vital importance in this regard.
