CIA police picked five terrorists including founder member of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi from Dubai to Lahore on Thursday.
A police team led by CIA SP had gone to Dubai to round up the terrorists and bring them back to Pakistan. The arrested terrorists were identified as Haroon Rashid Bhatti, Ahmad Yar, Ghulam Mustafa, Tariq Nawaz and Ayaz Ahmad. Haroon Rashid Bhatti, confidant of Malik Ishaq, along with his four accomplices was planning to conduct subversive acts and target killings in Lahore on the eve of Ashura. It was reported that judges, police officers, Shia Ulema, and people from different walks of life including senior journalists and lawyers were on their hit list. The arrested terrorists were involved in the murder of DSP Tariq Kamboh, Mominpura incident, Dr Qaisar Abbas, Maulana Shakir Ali Rizvi, Waqar Haider, Dr Syed Ali Haider, Murtaza Ali, Khurram Raza Qadari, Maulana Nasir Abbas Multani, Ali Hassan Qazalbash, president of banned Sipah Sahaba Pakistan, and many others. The Punjab government had fixed Rs 2500,000 head money on the arrest, alive or dead of Haroon Rashid Bhatti. All the five terrorists belonging to a defunct organisation have been dispatched to an undisclosed location.
BODY FOUND: A 36-year-old man was found dead in the limits of Harbanspura police. Some passersby spotted the body of a man near Dharampura Canal and informed the police. The deceased identified as Safdar was an addict who might have died of excessive use of drugs. Police removed the body to morgue for autopsy. CTO claimed to have made foolproof traffic and security arrangements to maintain smooth flow of traffic on city roads on Muharram 9, 10.
He said SP Traffic City, SP Traffic Sadar, eight DSPs, 44 traffic inspectors, 85 patrolling officers, 99 lady traffic wardens and 1,200 traffic wardens would perform duty. He said the staff deployed at offices of City Traffic Police would perform duty on the route of main procession. He said that strict action would be taken against those officers and officials who would show negligence on duty.
ACCIDENTS: Total 612 road traffic accidents were reported in Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all 37 Districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which 10 lives were lost. During these traffic accidents, 499 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant district. Some 196 victims sustaining minor injuries were provided first aid on the spot.
