Speeding car kills motorcyclist

LAHORE
A 27-year-old bike rider was killed by a speeding car in Sattukatla area on Tuesday.
The victim identified as Bilal, son of Mohammad Shahid, was on his way on a bike when a rashly driven car ran over him. As a result, he sustained fatal injuries. The car rider escaped from the scene. Injured Bilal was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to injuries. Police registered a case against the unidentified driver on the complaint of victim’s father Shahid.
Man found dead: A 40-year-old man was found dead in the limits of Data Darbar police station on Tuesday. Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, was an addict who might have died of excessive use of drugs. Police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy to ascertain the cause of death.
certificates: Acting Zonal Commander SSP Masroor Alam Kalachi awarded certificates to the 3rd batch of 30 female trainees at the Road Safety Training Institute at Babu Sabu Lahore on Tuesday.
SSP Masroor said that over 1.3 million people in the world and about 13,000 people died in road accidents and this ratio was more than the deaths caused by terrorism and other natural disasters. He said the basic purpose of the Road Safety Training Institutes (Driving Schools) was to provide opportunity to the people to learn driving as per international standards of road safety.
The SSP further said the passout trainees would help a lot in bringing discipline on highways and reducing road crashes because of their peculiar knowledge about traffic rules and road safety.
He advised the trainees to share what they had learned during their training with their friends and relatives and the message of road safety should reach everyone.
CTO: The CTO Lahore has directed the officers and officials to take strict action against the beggars at traffic signals, shopping malls and temporary markets of sacrificial animals.
He said the traffic police had arrested 358 beggars since the crackdown against beggars was launched. Out of total 358 beggars, 268 women and children had been handed over to the Child Protection Bureau. Traffic police got registered 90 cases against professional beggars at various police stations.
accidents: Total 553 road traffic accidents were reported to the Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all the 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which six lives were lost during the traffic accidents in different districts of Punjab and 454 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals of the relevant districts. However, some 196 victims sustaining minor injuries were provided first aid on the spot.
According to data, 249 drivers, 13 underage drivers, 78 pedestrians and 329 passengers were among victims of these road traffic accidents. The statistics show that 133 RTAs were reported to Lahore Control Room, which affected 143 persons placing the provincial capital at the top of the list followed by 51 RTAs in Faisalabad with 66 victims and Multan at third position with 31 RTAs and 35 victims.
Details further show that total 656 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 524 males and 132 females while the age group of the victims show that 84 were under 18 years of age, 415 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 157 victims were reported above 40 years.
According to a data, 429 motorbikes, 89 auto rickshaws, 52 motorcars, 30 vans, three passenger buses, 16 trucks and 71 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in the aforesaid road traffic accidents.
