Dr. Yasmin Raashid, a PTI ticket-holder from NA-122, has questioned that who is stopping the PML-N government to take action against the banned outfits in the province when in row during the last two months three suicide attacks have claimed dozens of lives.
On Wednesday, seven people were killed and 13 injured after a suicide bomber targeted the campaign office of PML-N MNA Sardar Amjad Farooq Khan Khosa in Taunsa, she added. She said two out of three attacks were made on the PML-N legislators and unfortunately Punjab had lost its Home Minister Col (retired) Shuja Khanzada but the Punjab government was still not ready to take action against the banned outfits. South Punjab is the major hub of banned outfits and to eliminate the terrorists from the country an operation clean up in Southern Punjab is need of the hour, she added. She said the operation Zarb-e-Azb was bearing fruit in the FATA which was supported across the country. She said the Punjab government should have the courage to call spade a spade and those who were still operating in the province by changing their names should also be taken to task. Extremist terrorists are hunting innocent people in Punjab while the Punjab government is not ready to take action against those who are spreading sectarianism, she added.
PTI Information Secretary Andleeb Abbas strongly condemned the blast and expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of lives.
She said it seemed from the lethargic behaviour of the Punjab government that it was not serious in implementing the National Action Plan in the province. Enough has been said rhetorically about the National Action Plan and it is time for the government to take practical steps to root out banned outfits, she stressed. She said the culture of intolerance and hatred for other religions and sects was a factor fuelling militancy in the country. This culture can be changed into tolerance and respect of other religions by introducing Madrassa reforms, she maintained.
She said the attack in Taunsa took place ahead of holy month of Muharram. She urged the government to formulate a strict security plan and beef up security arrangements for Muharram to avoid such incidents in Muharram. She demanded strict action against all the banned organisations and their sympathizers.
