LAHORE
A division bench of the Lahore High Court Tuesday issued notices to Liaqatabad Police SHO and Federal Investigation Agency on a petition filed by a PTI candidate for UC-226 for harassing him to withdraw his candidature.
Anjum Yaqoob Masih, a PTI candidate from UC—226, had filed the petition and pointed out that he was contesting election against the ruling party’s candidate.
He said a few days back, he was kidnapped and his case was lodged with Kot Lakhpat Police Station. The petitioner said later he was threatened through FIA and NAB while he had not been involved in any case. He said police were also harassing him and threatening him merely for contesting election. During the course of hearing, a NAB official appeared before the bench and told it that no case against the petitioner was pending with the bureau. However, no reply was submitted by the SHO concerned and the FIA. At this, the bench led by Justice Mahmood Maqbool Bajwa sought reply from the SHO and FIA. The court will resume hearing on Wednesday (today).
