Schools should provide milk and eggs to children

World Egg Day observed

LAHORE
University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) on Friday observed the “World Egg Day” by organising different activities including a seminar, walk, egg model making contest, funny poetry and a presentation to create awareness about the nutritional value of egg and its importance for the growth of human body
The events were organised by UVAS Department of Poultry Production in collaboration with Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA).
Newly elected Chairman PPA (North Zone) Rai Mansab Ali Kharl presided over the seminar while Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, Dean Faculty of Animal Production and Technology Prof Dr Anjum Khalique, Dr Mustafa Kammal and a large number of poultry industry representatives and students were also present.
In his address, Rai Mansab Ali Kharl said egg had a vital role to play in feeding people around the world, in both developed and developing countries. The egg has excellent and affordable source of high quality protein
Prof Talat Naseer Pasha said we needed to initiate school milk programme and provide an egg a day to our children to attract them to schools and improve their health and solve the issue of malnutrition and provide market to our dairy and poultry farmers.
Earlier, Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha and Rai Mansab Ali Kharl led the walk, which started in front of the VC Office and culminated in front of the Pet Centre lawn after taking a round of the city campus Lahore.
Earlier, Dr Samra Imran focused on the importance of protein in human diet and importance of egg for a healthy nation.
Later, egg model making competition was also held in which Kumail Jafri and Iqra Akmal and Jaweria Nawaz won the first position, Muhammad Hamza secured second and Saba Akram third position.
Meanwhile, a condolence meeting was also held in memory of “Dr Muhammad Quaid Zaman”, Assistant Professor, Department of Physiology. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, a large number of university staff and students prayed for the departed soul and paid tribute to his services for the university.
convocation: Punjab University’s 123rd Convocation will be held at varsity’s Faisal Auditorium at 10:00am on Saturday (today).
Meanwhile, a full dress rehearsal of the convocation was held on Friday in which Punjab University Registrar Prof Dr Liaqqat Ali, Dean Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences Prof Dr Zakria Zakar, deans of faculties, principles of colleges, directors of Institutes, heads of departments, PhD scholars, Phil scholars, Masters degree programme and BS Honours degree programme and gold medalists participated.
results: All the nine Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) of Punjab will announce the results of Intermediate Part-I (Annual) Examination 2015 on Saturday (today).
Lecture: Punjab University’s College of Earth and Environment sciences (CEES) organised a lecture on “Religious Attitude for Sustainable Environment”.
According to a press release, renowned religious scholar Syed Bilal Qutab spoke on the occasion. CEES Principal Prof Dr Sajid Rasheed, Dr Naumana, Dr Adila, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
In his address, Syed Bilal Qutab talked about peace of internal environment saying when some achieved it the external environment changed itself.
