CHIEF Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed extreme indignation over the increase in the number of dengue patients in Rawalpindi and strongly reprimanded heads of departments and institutions concerned and officers of administration.
He said that there was no justification for increase in the number of dengue patients this year as compared to the corresponding period last year. He said the departments concerned and institutions had displayed criminal negligence towards taking timely measures for controlling dengue and no excuse would be accepted in this regard.
Addressing a meeting through a video link on dengue control, here Tuesday, the chief minister said increase in the number of dengue patients in Rawalpindi was lamentable and the departments concerned had shown negligence and dereliction of duty towards dengue control. He said that departments concerned had committed an unpardonable mistake by not implementing the procedure evolved for controlling dengue virus. He said had timely measures been taken against dengue, this situation would not have emerged in Rawalpindi.
He said there was nothing more precious than human lives; therefore, effective measures should be adopted against dengue and modern technology should be utilised for this purpose; anti-dengue plan should be fully implemented and departments concerned should take effective measures through collective efforts. He warned that he wanted results and no excuse would be acceptable. He said that all departments concerned and district administration should play an active role in this regard. He said that due attention should be paid to indoor and outdoor dengue surveillance.

He directed that besides maintaining a high standard, due attention should also be paid to speedy completion of the project for achieving the best results.
MPs: Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan cannot afford politics of anarchy and 180 million people of the country fully know how politics of sit-ins created hurdles in the process of national development last year.
