LAHORE
A 35-year-old woman was shot dead in Sattukatla on Tuesday after allegedly being caught in a compromising position with her paramour.
The victim was identified as Fozia Bibi, daughter of Mazhar Iqbal of Sattukatla. Police said woman’s father Mazhar Iqbal and a nephew had caught her red-handed in an objectionable condition with her paramour Fiaz. They fired shots at them. As a result, both Fozia and Fiaz received wounds. They were admitted to a local hospital where Fozia succumbed to wounds.
Murderer executed: A murderer was hanged to death in the Kot Lakhpat jail on Tuesday.
The convict was identified as Imran who had killed a person over a minor issue almost 13 years back in Nankana Sahab. The appeal of the convict for clemency was rejected by the President of Pakistan. He was allowed to meet his families last time before execution.
Police have handed over the body to the deceased’s family after completing legal formalities. The family took the body of Imran to Nankana Sahab for burial.
overcharging: DIG NH&MP Mirza Faran said that no transporter would be allowed to overcharge the passengers and if this happened then the Motorway Police would make the overcharged passengers return their money.
He said that strict enforcement against the overcharging of fare by transporters be carried out and zero tolerance policy would be ensured on the national highways and motorways.
He directed the officers to have a prompt response to the stranded road users and also give a prompt reply to the callers of 130 NH&MP Helpline. He directed the officers to have an eye on criminals so that the people could have a safe journey during the Eid days.
GIFTS: DIG Operations distributed Eid gifts among the families of 267 martyrs of Lahore police at Model Town Community Centre on Tuesday.Addressing on the occasion, the DIG said that a memorial of police martyrs would be built in the city. Names of all martyrs of Lahore police would be inscribed on the memorial, he added.
He said they were also going to introduce Shaheed Smart Card through which the families of the martyrs could get facilities being offered by education, health, transport and other departments. He said a request had already been made to the Punjab government for the admission quota of police martyrs’ children to city colleges.
