University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha inaugurated a hostel for girl students “Amina Hall” at City Campus on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, the vice-chancellor said the UVAS was striving to provide a comfortable accommodation to students on merit. The new hostel for girls is comprised of 22 spacious rooms with all necessary facilities.
Hostel Warden Dr Mati-ur-Rehman, Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Dr Muhammad Afzal, Project Director Amer Nasim Khan and a large number of faculty members and students were present.
The UVAS’ Non-Teaching Staff Association arranged a farewell for its president Qazi Akram, senior technician in the Department of Medical Health and Services, on his retirement from the university service on reaching the age of superannuation.
Prof Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the farewell ceremony and lauded his services for the university and the association. Qazi Akram served the university for 38 years.
He remained the president of the association for a long time.
Meanwhile, according to a press release the UVAS arranged quiz contests in connection with Quaid-e-Azam Day and Defence Day of Pakistan.
In this contest, Aadla Khalil Kainth from Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology won first position, Mudasser Munir from the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science (IPS) second while Usman Haider from Department of Food Sciences and Human Nutrition got third position.
On the occasion, the VC paid tribute to the martyrs of 1965 Indo-Pak war. He said that Pakistan was an agriculture rich country and stressed the need to exploit resources for its development.
At the end, Dr Hafsa Zaneb gave away shield among the winners of the contest. Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf lauded the performance of all the teams.
