A delegation from Osaka University Japan comprising varsity’s Head of Urdu Department Prof Soyama Maney and students visited Punjab University’s Oriental College's Department of Urdu.
PU Dean Faculty of Oriental Learning Prof Dr Ismattullah Zahid told the delegation that there were strong relations between Osaka University and Punjab University and a large number of Japanese students had completed their degrees in Urdu from Punjab University.
In his address, Prof Soyama Maney said PU was the greatest and oldest seat of learning in the region and Oriental College’s Department of Urdu was one of the best departments of Urdu language in the world.
He said he and his students were much impressed by the cultural heritage and academia of Lahore.
Chairman PU Department Prof Dr Muhammad Kamran, Dr Zahid Munir Amir and others were also present on the occasion who briefed the delegation about academic programmes of the department.
