LAHORE
The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday dismissed bail applications of accused of lynching a Christian couple in Kot Radhkrishan.
A bench remarked that it was the duty of the applicants to come to their rescue but they raised slogans and motivated the people for killing the couple and did not deserve the concession of bail. The Lahore High Court, on June 30, had already rejected their bail petitions. Accused Nisar and Akram moved the bail applications. Their counsel submitted that they had no link to the lynching incident and the police had nominated them only to increase the number of the arrested persons. He said that both applicants were just passing by the place of alleged occurrence and had no role in it. He said that the only role attributed to both applicants was of raising slogans and creating law and order. He requested the court to release the accused on bail. The prosecution counsel said that Nisar and Akram had active role in the lynching and instigated the mob for the heinous crime. He said that there was ample evidence that both were involved in the crime.
