Chief Traffic Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema has sought explanation from DSP Gulberg Muneer Butt and suspended Incharge Shadman Sector for not taking effective action against encroachers and wrong parking during surprise visits on Thursday.He also issued show-cause notices to two patrolling officers. The CTO visited the areas of Gulberg, Shadman, General Hospital and Thokar Niaz Beg and reviewed flow of traffic. He observed that traffic police had not initiated action against wrong parking and encroachments at and around a private hospital in Shadman. He suspended Inspector Khaleeq Iqbal and sought explanation from DSP Gulberg Muneer Butt.
Meanwhile, CTO said that traffic police had taken action against 96,142 persons over violation of seat belt since the crackdown was launched. He said traffic police had been taking action against violators of seat belt for their protection and safe journey.
PROMOTED: DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf has said that there is dire a need to take revolutionary step to restore the image of police force and train them according to modern needs.He expressed these views while pinning promotion badges to 10 officials. The officials were promoted to the rank of inspector from the rank of sub-inspector. SSP VVIP Security Athar Ismael was also present on this occasion. The DIG said that IGP Mushtaq Sukhera had started the process of promotions again after a long time and officers should realise their responsibilities while getting happy on promotions. The promoted officers included Muhammad Ali, Abdul Majeed, Asghar Ali, Muhammad Aslam, Bashir Ahmad, Muhammad Asghar, Mubashar Hussain, Shah Faqeer, Muhammad Afzal and Muhammad Yar.
LOOT RECOVERED: National Highways & Motorway police recovered a snatched truckload of 150 bundles of thread (sooter) worth Rs6 million during routine patrolling.The Motorway Police, Central Zone Patrolling Officers SPO Shoukat Javed and PO Ijaz Hussain while on patrolling observed lane violation of truck bearing registration No. LES -4148 on national highways. The patrolling officers asked to stop him but the driver left the vehicle and ran away in nearby jungle after seeing the NH&MP patrolling officers. The NH&MP officers promptly informed control who informed by district wireless control noted that same vehicle had been snatched by unidentified armed men from Mian Channu Bypass, P/S city.
