Father of stage actress shot dead

LAHORE The father of a stage actress was killed over a minor issue in the Shafiqabad police limits on Monday. Police have removed the dead body to morgue for autopsy and registered an FIR No. 761/15 against accused Shan and Shafqat on the complaint of Sabiha Naaz, wife of deceased.

The father of a stage actress was killed over a minor issue in the Shafiqabad police limits on Monday.
Police have removed the dead body to morgue for autopsy and registered an FIR No. 761/15 against accused Shan and Shafqat on the complaint of Sabiha Naaz, wife of deceased. The victim was identified as Iftikhar alias Kaka, father of stage actress Saira Khan, a resident of Sabzazar.
Police told the media that victim’s son Mohsin had scuffled with the accused on some minor issue few days before. Locals of the areas intervened and stopped them from fighting. The accused had nurtured a grudge against them. On the day of incident, the victim went to Karim Park for reconciliation. As he reached there, accused exchanged harsh words with the victim. They whipped out a weapon and opened fire. The victim received bullet-injuries. He was shifted to a nearby hospital but doctors pronounced him as brought dead.
Police reached the incident place on information, collected forensic evidences and recorded the statements of eye-witnesses. Police were searching for the accused.
found dead: A 60-year-old unidentified man was found dead in the Data Darbar police limits on Monday.
Police have removed the dead body to morgue for autopsy.
A passerby informed the police about a man lying unconscious near Gate No. 04 of Data Darbar. Police reached the incident place on information. They shifted the victim to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him as brought dead.
Police told the media that victim looked like a drug-addict and might have died due to excessive use of drug. However, autopsy will help ascertain the cause of death.
Police were searching for the family of deceased.
burnt: Valuables worth thousands of rupees were burnt into ashes in an incident of fire in a shop due to short-circuit in the Old Anarkali police limits on Sunday night.
Rescue teams reached the incident place on information and controlled the fire.
The fire broke out due to short-circuit in a shop at Bakshi Shoe Market due to short-circuit. Locals tried to extinguish the fire but of no use. They called the Rescue 1122 and police. They reached the incident place on information and fought the fire. No loss of life or injury was reported.
imposters held: The Nishtar Colony police have arrested a woman for posing herself as Ayesha Mumtaz, Director Punjab Food Authority (PFA), and extorting money from shopkeepers in the Nishtar Colony police limits on Monday.
The arrested accused woman was identified as Naheed Akhtar and her accomplices as Ijaz, Naeem and Jamil.
Admin Officer Saeed said the accused were conducting raids on different shops in Nishtar Colony Bazaar impostering themselves as “Ayesha Mumtaz Team”. The accused had extorted Rs. 1000, Rs. 3000 and Rs. 5000 from three shopkeepers in the name of fine. The victims complained to traders’ union of the area. They asked for the identity of the team. They handed them over to police on failure to prove their identity.
Speaking on the occasion, Director PFA said they had received many such complaints. She said if anyone had any such complaint of gratification by someone in the name of the PFA, they should immediately got registerd an FIR. She appreciated the arrest of the accused by police and requested the public to play a proactive role in handling such criminals.
road accidents: At least 633 road traffic accidents were reported to the Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all the 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which five lives were lost and 538 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals of the relevant districts. However, some 230 victims sustaining minor injuries were provided first aid on the spot. According to a data, 281 drivers, 20 underage drivers, 93 pedestrians and 399 passengers were among victims of these road traffic accidents. The statistics show 146 RTAs were reported to Lahore Control Room, which affected 180 persons placing the provincial capital at the top of the list followed by 47 RTAs in Faisalabad with 56 victims and Gujranwala at third position with 46RTAs and 46 victims.
Details further show that total 773 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 606 males and 167 females, while the age group of the victims showed that 119 were under 18 years of age, 491 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 163 victims were reported above 40 years. According to the data, 518 motorbikes, 93 auto rickshaws, 62 motorcars, 43 vans, five passenger buses, 11 trucks and 71 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in the aforesaid road traffic accidents.
