Punjab University (PU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran presided over a condolence reference to pay tribute to martyred Punjab Minister Col (Retd) Shuja Khanzada at Al Raazi Hall here on Monday.
Deans of various faculties, heads of departments and senior faculty members were also present. Addressing the meeting, Dr Mujahid Kamran said Shuja Khanzada was a brave, fearless and patriotic person who had always respected others. He said several times he had exposed Indian intervention in Pakistan candidly and India’s involvement in various terrorist activities. He said the country had faced an irreparable loss. The meeting expressed solidarity with his family. Later, Fateha was offered for late General Hameed Gul and Col Shuja Khanzada. PU Academic Staff Association President Prof Dr Hassan Mobeen Alam and Secretary Dr Mahboob Hussain also termed Shuja’s death an irreparable loss. They said Col Khanzada himself had set an example of bravery for others. Meanwhile, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) also arranged a condolence reference in memory of Col Shuja Khanzada (retd) and other martyrs who lost their lives in Attock suicide attack.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the reference in which participants prayed for the departed souls and paid tribute to the services of Shuja Khanzada. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Pasha said Shuja Khanzada was a brave soldier and had embraced martyrdom in the line of duty. He said Khanzada had sacrificed his life in the defence of country and our lives. He prayed for the departed souls and said we all shared the grief of the families of Shuja Khanzada and other martyrs. A large number of teaching staff, other employees and students attended the meeting and prayed for the blast victims.
Reference: A condolence reference was held at the Directorate General Public Relations Punjab on Monday to pay rich tribute to Provincial Minister for Home Col. (Retd) Shuja Khanzada who was martyred in a suicide attack at Attock. Paying tribute to Col. (Retd) Shuja Khanzada, the speakers acknowledged the services of Khanzada for elimination of terrorism from the province and implementation of the National Action Plan. The participants also prayed for the departed souls of the martyrs of Attock tragedy. Director General Public Relations Punjab Ather Ali Khan, officers and a large number of officials were also present. Addressing the condolence reference, DGPR Ather Ali Khan said Col. (Retd) Shuja Khanzada was a bold, courageous and determined person who played a vital role for rooting out terrorism and making Punjab a haven of peace. He said that Shuja Khanzada laid down his life in the line of duty. He said Shuja Khanzada was committed to eradicating terrorism and his supreme sacrifice for the country would not go waste.
