Says 5 accused of suicide blast arrested

PUNJAB Home Minister Col (r) Shuja Khanzada has said that five accused of suicide blast incidents in the building of sensitive institution in Model Town, Christian worship places in Youhanabad and outside police lines Qila Gujjar Singh have been arrested.
He said Tehreek-e-Taliban Sheharyar Mehsood Group was involved in these blasts and it was provided necessary material and financial resources from India. He said the accused had also given information about the plot for major terrorist activities in Lahore and Karachi.
He was addressing a press conference along with Capital City Police Officer Capt (r) Amin Wains and Additional IG Arif Mushtaq.
The minister said national action plan was being successfully implemented due to which law & order had improved in Punjab and law enforcement agencies and police were playing leading role in this regard. He said all actions were being taken on the basis of intelligence and were led by ISI. The minister paid tributes to ISI and said that due to its efforts, CTD was achieving success. He said the terrorists who had been arrested disclosed that they were plotting big terrorist activities in Lahore and Karachi and their targets were government institutions, political personalities, markets and public places. He said that efforts for the arrest of terrorists were not limited to Punjab but work had been carried out from FATA to Karachi. He said that this group comprised of 10 persons out of which eight were facilitators.
Shuja Khanzada said the same group carried out suicide blasts in sensitive institution in Model Town in 2010, worship places of Christians in Youhanabad and outside Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines. He said these terrorist activities were planned in Afghanistan, from where terrorists came to Waziristan where necessary material was provided for implementation of the plan. He said when Tehreek-e-Taliban was disintegrated Sheharyar Mehsood Group separated from it. He said this group had contact with India through Afghanistan and was provided material and financial resources and also gave report to India. He said those arrested included Sanaullah of Punjab who is expert in making suicide jackets and fitting explosive material in vehicles. He said Qari Ilyas and Khalid Zaman alias Taj Ali informed him about the plan after which he used to make suicide jackets. He said that in order to attack worship places of Christians in Youhanabad, Qari Ilayas and Taj Ali came to FATA from Afghanistan and later they held a meeting with Sanaullah outside Raiwind Tableeghi centre and was given order to prepare four suicide jackets with 8kg explosive material each. These suicide jackets were prepared in Chungi Amar Sadhu. The other terrorists included Imran Mehsood of South Waziristan Saroga while Sheikh Qanoon is his cousin. Waqas is resident of Bahawalnagar and a room was rented on his identity card in Chungi Amar Sadhu. Similarly, Hassan Punjabi of Bahawalnagar received six months training in Afghanistan and had fought against the army on behalf of Tehreek-e-Taliban in FATA. Shuja Khanzada said that Qari Ilyas and Taj Ali showed the targets in Youhanabad to suicide bombers and watched them from the distance and later escaped after the blast. He said that Asar-ud-Din is resident of South Waziristan. Rana Sajid of Bahawalnagar had escaped to Afghanistan and head money would be fixed for his arrest.
The minister said that law enforcement agencies were in contact with Afghanistan and cooperation was being received.
