CHIEF Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed that immediate survey should be conducted for assessing the loss in the areas affected by flood and heavy rains.
He said the administration of the districts concerned should immediately survey the affected houses and crops in the light of survey of loss conducted last year. He issued this direction while addressing members of cabinet committee on flood present in various districts, divisional headquarters and Civil Secretariat through a video conference, here Tuesday. The meeting reviewed in detail relief activities, protective measures and the situation arising due to rains and floods. He directed that relief activities should be accelerated in flood and rain-hit areas, provision of three times meal on time and medical facilities should be ensured to affected persons in medical camps.
He directed to utilise all available resources for drainage of accumulated water at some places of Esa Khel, Mianwali, additional tents should immediately be sent for the rain affectees in Esa Khel and immediate disposal of water should be ensured. He said all possible resources would be provided for protective bund of Alipur.
Kidney and Liver
Institute: Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting of Board of Governors of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Centre which reviewed the pace of progress on the project. Representative of an international company gave a briefing on the design of initial master plan of the project.
The meeting approved appointment of legal consultant for the project. Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said foundation stone of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute would be laid during the current month. He said this institute would be state-of-the-art in South Asia where modern treatment facilities would be available to patients under one roof. He directed that after laying foundation stone of the building of the institute, construction work should be carried out round-the-clock as this project will have to be completed within stipulated period. He said tree plantation was an important part of the project; therefore, special attention should be paid to plantation and landscaping. He said a separate grid station would be set up for the institute; however, alternative arrangements for power supply were also necessary.
Service centres: Shahbaz Sharif has said that under Land Record Management Information System, service centres for computerised land have been completed in all tehsils of the province. He said the Punjab government had achieved another milestone by completing this revolutionary project of public service. He said that people would be rid of Patwari culture in the province through Land Record Management Information System. He said that due to this historic step, wrong registration of land, corruption, fraud and forgery would be eliminated.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting in Civil Secretariat through a video link, Tuesday. The meeting reviewed progress on Land Record Management Information System and approved setting up of Punjab Land Record Authority for future implementation on Land Record Management Information System. He said that Land Record Management Information System was a historic step of the Punjab government for providing relief to the people and they would be rid of unnecessary litigation. The chief minister directed that the process of legislation for setting up of authority should be completed at the earliest. He said that the people would get real relief through this splendid project of billions of rupees and the facility of immediately getting ownership deed and transfer of land had become available to the people. He said that land documents had become available to the people under one roof through this system. He said that effective monitoring system had been evolved with the help of modern technology through the System. He said that state-of-the-art centralised data centre was being set up. He said pilot project of geographical information system was being started in three districts of Punjab and online information would be available to the people about their land through this modern system.
