LAHORE
The construction work on Remote Search Park at Dajal Check Post by the Punjab government at the bordering area of Bhakkar District and Dera Ismail Khan District has been stopped after the protest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government as it has claimed that the area where the park is being constructed is in its jurisdiction.
The construction of Remote Search Park was under way at Dear Ismail Khan-Bhakkar Road at Dajal Chek Post under National Action Plan to keep vigilance on terrorists’ movements. Sophisticated equipment and scanners will be installed at the said remote search park to search vehicles.
However, KPK chief secretary wrote a letter to Punjab chief secretary that the area where the remote search is being constructed by the Punjab government is owned by Provincial Highway Authority, KPK.
The KPK chief secretary protested over the construction of remote search park as the Punjab government did not take No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the KPK government for the construction of the said park. He demanded that the construction work should be stopped immediately and the Punjab government should approach the KPK government to get the NOC.
While replying to the KPK chief secretary’s letter, the Punjab chief secretary wrote a letter to KPK government for issuing the NOC for the construction of the park. The Punjab chief secretary said the construction of the remote search park was the part of the Punjab government’s plan regarding taking measures to counter terrorism.
Responding to the Punjab chief secretary’s letter, the Communication & Works Department, KPK, wrote a letter to the Punjab chief secretary (CS) that the land where the park was being constructed is owned by the Provincial Highway Authority, KPK. If the Punjab government wanted to construct Search Park over there, then it would have to acquire the land after paying the market price.
The C&W Department KPK further said that construction of the park would only be allowed once the Punjab government made the payment of the said land. It said the Punjab government needed 400*100 Sq Ft land for the construction of the park and its market price is Rs 24 million. After receiving the reply from the KPK government, Home Depart, Punjab, submitted a summary to Punjab chief minister, requesting him to release the funds of Rs 24 million so that the payment could be made to the KPK government to acquire the land for the construction of Remote Search Park at Dajal Check Post at Bhakkar-Dera Ismail Khan Road.
In the summary it has been mentioned that the construction work was stopped after the KPK government protested and would be restarted after the payment of the land price.
