A 22-year-old youth was axed to death by five persons in the Kahna area on Friday.
He was identified as Mubarak Ali of Jhuggian Rasoolpura, Kahna. It was reported that the victim had relations with a local girl (S), whose brothers warned him to stay away from their sister, but he paid no heed to the warning. On the day of the incident, Mubarak was asleep in his house when the accused persons, including Mahmood Nizam, and Shafqat along with two accomplices entered his house and axed him to death. Police shifted the body to morgue and registered a murder case against five persons on the complaint of Farooq.
DIES: A 24-year-old youth died after his speeding bike collided with the fence around the corridor of metro bus in the Bhatti Gate area in early hours of Friday.
The victim identified as Naveed of Taxali was passing through the Bhatti Gate area when he lost control over his bike which rammed into the fence around the corridor of metro bus. He received serious injuries, was rushed to a local hospital, where he died.
FOUND DEAD: A 40-year-old man was found dead in the limits of Tibbi City police station on Sunday.
Some passersby spotted the body of a man lying near Taranum Chowk and informed the police. The deceased, yet to be identified, was an addict who might have died of excessive use of drugs, police claimed. Body was shifted to morgue.
FIRE: Cloth worth lakhs of rupees was burnt when fire broke out in a godown in the Masti Gate area on Friday.
Cause of fire was said to be a short circuit. On being informed, the firefighters rushed to the spot and extinguished fire after two-hour hectic efforts.
ACCIDENTS: At least 586 road traffic accidents were reported in Rescue 1122’s provincial monitoring cell in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which four lives were lost and 476 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant district. However, some 211 victims sustaining minor injuries were provided first aid on the spot.
gangs: Lahore police unearthed 69 gangs of criminals and arrested their 165 members during the month of June 2015.
Police further arrested 449 proclaimed offenders and 1,150 court absconders of A&B categories. During the month of June, police registered 395 cases against 395 illicit arms carriers and recovered nine Kalashnikov, 24 rifles, 52 guns, 290 revolvers, pistols, one carbine, 11 daggers and 1,871 bullets from their possession. Similarly, the police registered 447 cases and arrested 452 drug pushers and recovered 47kg heroin, 111kg charas, one kg opium and 3,202 bottles of liquor from them. Moreover, the Lahore police arrested 621 gamblers besides registering 417 cases of violations.
DISMISSED: CTO Lahore dismissed two wardens, including a lady traffic warden from service for being continuously absent from duty and violating department rules and regulations.
The dismissed officers were identified as lady traffic warden Aliya and warden Kaleem. Both the officers were absent from duty for the last five and six months respectively.
Meanwhile, CTO Lahore announced cash prizes and appreciation certificates for the in-charge Traffic Sector Mall-II and patrolling officer for handing over a lost child to his parents. Patrolling officer Traffic Sector Mall-II Saad Waqas spotted a three-year-old boy crying on the road. He informed the Sector Incharge Malik Noman who informed the Cantt Control and Civil Lines police about the missing boy under his custody.
