Shahbaz Sharif has announced setting up of digital libraries and installing water filtration plants in the offices of bar associations of Punjab. Digital libraries will be set up in all bar associations of Punjab during three years.
He said the sacrifices of the lawyer community for restoration of independent judiciary would be remembered for ever. He said the role of lawyers was excellent in strengthening democracy and supremacy of law and the Constitution.
The chief minister said the lawyer community had to play vanguard role in the provision of justice to the people. He said the lawyer community would have to come forward for evolving a coordinated strategy for making the provision of justice easier. The tragic incident of Daska was highly condemnable, he said, adding that the Punjab government equally shared the grief of the lawyer community and bereaved families of deceased lawyers.
He made this announcement while talking to a delegation of High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi led by its President, here, Friday. The chief minister and the delegation prayed for the departed souls of the slain lawyers and early recovery of injured lawyers.
He said that accountability was essential for checks and balances at Thana and Kutchery level. He lamented that people were not getting cheap and prompt justice. He said supremacy of merit was being ensured for providing justice to people. The chief minister while announcing grant for High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi said the work on setting up of e-libraries and installing water filtration plants would be started immediately. He directed to constitute a committee for sympathetic consideration to other demands of High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi and said that the committee, after considering all demands, would submit its recommendations within 14 days.
Members of delegation of High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi said the chief minister was working with commitment.
schools: Shahbaz Sharif has said that implementation of Parho Punjab Barhro Punjab programme is continuing successfully for the promotion of quality education in the province. He said a target had been fixed under this programme for the enrolment of every child by 2018 while special targets had been set for raising the standard of education.
Shahbaz Sharif was presiding over a meeting here Friday which reviewed in detail the progress of Parho Punjab Bahro Punjab programme. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that spending of funds on the promotion of education was not expenditure but a useful investment. He said that resources would continue to be provided for the development of education sector but he wanted results.
He said the Punjab government had made investment of billions of rupees in education sector during the last seven years.
