Women’s role in institutions made compulsory: minister

Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation, Law and Finance, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that women representation has been made compulsory in all government institutions, autonomous boards, development and research centres and 25,000 women have got right of representation under the law.
He said the government was extending the all-out effort to provide purposeful and professional modern education to students to make them useful citizens. He said the Punjab government was making efforts to improve governance, establish the rule of law, ensure merit based and transparent recruitment, creation of one million jobs per year and ensure transparent and accountable governance. Talking to a delegation of women MPAs at his assembly chamber, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said there was a need to utilise national resources equitably for setting up a peaceful society and economic prosperity of the masses whereas problems like corruption, favouritism and unemployment could be controlled through good governance. He said the government had created 3,000 new posts of nurses and Rs1.43 billion had been allocated for this purpose. He said nurses and paramedical staff had a vital role in providing basic health facilities to the people.
He said that such programmes would be launched in which vocational and practical training would be provided to womenfolk and opportunities of maximum employment would also be provided to them so that they could play their proactive role in socio-economic uplift of the country as well as their status.
MS: Punjab Health Department has appointed Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Alam as new Medical Superintendent (MS) of Punjab Dental Hospital Lahore. Chief Dental Surgeon of Institute of Public Health (IPH) Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Alam has been transferred and appointed as MS, Punjab Dental Hospital Lahore. Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Alam passed Masters in Hospital Management (MHM) in 2005 with a distinction from University of Health Science (UHS) and became first dental surgeon in public sector who obtained this degree. He has worked in Punjab Dental Hospital as well as in de’Montmorency College of Dentistry as Principal Dental Surgeon from 1996 to 2008. At Institute of Public Health (IPH), he trained Dental Technicians and Dental Hygienists for sterilisation from all over the Punjab.
