A class 4 student died mysteriously at the Government Girls Fatima Jinnah High School here on Tuesday.
Mubashir, 10, went to a water cooler to drink water but he suddenly fell unconscious. He was shifted to the DHQ Hospital where he died. On information, Mubashir’s father Riasat Ali and relatives reached the hospital and staged a demonstration against the teachers. They alleged that he died due to torture of the teachers. Meanwhile, the doctors told the protesters that there were no torture marks on the body of Mubashir. They said that the autopsy would confirm the cause of his death but the family refused and took the body with them for burial.

killed: A woman was killed in a road accident in Gujranwala on Tuesday.
Hanif and his wife Wajeeha Bibi of Rahwali were moving on a motorcycle, when they reached near Aziz Chowk in the Aroop police area a speeding tractor trolley hit them. As a result, Wajeeha died on the spot and Hanif suffered critical injuries. He was rushed to hospital.
BODY FOUND: The Jinnah road police Tuesday found a dead body of an old man from Ratta bazaar. The unidentified body was shifted to dead house.
kidnapped: A married woman was kidnapped in Pakpattan on Tuesday. Accused Aslam and his accomplices kidnapped the sister-in-law of Muhammad Mansha from his house when Mansha was not at home.
SUICIDE ATTEMPT: A woman Tuesday attempted suicide on Tuesday. Allah Wasai, wife of Abbas of Chak 33/SP near Saleem Kot Jhal, consumed pesticides over a domestic issue. She was rushed to DHQ hospital.
elections: Liaqat Ali Anjum of daily Jang/ Geo has been elected as chairman of the Jhang Press Club in the annual elections held on Tuesday. A three-member body conducted the elections. Candidates of two groups of journalists took part in the elections which took place on the premises of the press club.
According to results, the Friends group won all 21 seats in the election.
MOTHER, CHILD HEALTH WEEK: The mother and child healthcare week was observed in the district. Talking to The News, IRMNCH Nutrition and National Programme District Coordinator Dr Zulfiqar Ali said during the week healthcare activities remained underway for pregnant women and infants, who were administered proper vaccinations and were educated about nutrition and hygienic related issues.
He said hundreds of lady health workers, lady health visitors, community health workers, nutrition supervisors and other health staff visited houses and educated the people about importance of washing hands before and after meals and after visiting washrooms.
strike: A large number of teachers observed strike against the government for not implementing recommendations of the Pay and Pension Committee in Hafizabad district on Tuesday.
The teachers under the banner of the Muttahida Mahaz Asatiza also staged a demonstration outside the press club.
The All Pakistan Clerks Association also participated in the demonstration after locking their offices. Addressing the protesters, teachers’ unions and Apca leaders said that the government employees had been facing a large number of problems due to the price hike. They criticised the government for not revising pay scales according to recommendations of the Pay and Pension Committee. They demanded the government revise pay scales and merge ad hoc allowances into basic pay of the employees in the coming budget.
Teachers’ leaders Muhammad Abu Bakar Alvi, Riaz Ahmad Tarar, Naseeruddin, Naseer Butt, Shabbir Muhammad Gujjar, Aqil Azad, Jafar Bajwa and Mian Ghulam Abbas Ansari and Apca leaders Bao Nasir Ameen and Nasrullah Hanjra addressed the protesters.
