LAHORE Punjab PTI president Ejaz Ch has said the election tribunal’s decision on Hamid Khan’s petitions in NA-125 is self-explanatory. He said the tribunal’s decision is a befitting response to those who were saying the PTI was crying for nothing and wanted to derail the government. In a statement issued on Tuesday, he said all those cheap delaying tactics used by Saad Rafique, creating hurdles in the way of election probe and the sudden activism of Saad Rafique and Parvez Rasheed just prior to historic Azadi March and daily press conferences of the PML-N ministers turned out to be useless in the end. He asked why Parvez Rasheed is silent now and why he is not coming out and defending his masters. He said Saad Rafique has been punished for sabotaging the electoral process in NA-125 and it will serve as lifetime lesson for all those who make their way in parliament through rigging. He said no returning officer has the courage to tamper with votes unless he has the protection from the political elite. He said the PTI’s struggle for fair and free electoral process would continue. PTI secretary general Yasmin Rashid in the statement said the PTI was the only party which took a firm stand against blatant rigging in May 2013 elections. The PTI’s struggle paid off in the form of judicial commission and the Monday’s decision is the beginning of the end of the rigged parliament, she added. She said fraud in elections had become a norm in Pakistan and encouraged the corrupt and incompetent politicians to enter the parliament. She said PTI always emphasised on free and fair elections. NA-125 decision has strengthened the democracy, she added. Information Secretary Andleeb said Imran Khan was the man who brought neutral umpiring in cricket when all the cricketing nations were against him and now he is bringing free and fair polls and whole status quo was against him. The PTI’s struggle under the leadership of Imran Khan for transparent electoral process would continue, she added. She said the rigging has been established in the NA 125 and Khawaja Saad Rafique stands disqualified and he cannot fool the nation with his twisted interpretation of the judgment. He must go and prepare for by-election. She said the PTI’s struggle would be remembered in the history of Pakistan.
