LAHORE
Lahore High Court Justice Abdul Sami Khan Monday disposed of petitions seeking recovery of two alleged detainees in lynching of two men outside Youhanabad following suicide attacks on churches, directing the petitioners to approach the appropriate forum.
During the hearing a report was submitted on behalf of the joint investigating team that two accused Kamran and Shalam were not in police custody. The report further read that third accused Pervaiz John was wanted by the police but he was an absconder.
On April 8, 11 alleged detainees had appeared before the court and recorded their statements that they had come from their homes and were not arrested or tortured by the police.
MA Joseph and others had filed the petitions alleging that the police took their family members in custody without any evidence and denied access to them. They had said the police did not produce the arrested men before any court of law. The petitioners had claimed that the arrested men had no link with the lynching incident.
