A seven-year-old child and a 20-year-old man were hit to death by a fast moving vehicle in the Harbanspura police limits on Friday.
Police have removed the bodies to morgue for autopsy and registered an FIR No. 422/15 against the unidentified accused.
The victims were riding a bike and going somewhere. When they reached the canal road, a fast moving vehicle hit them. As a result, they fell down and received injuries. A passerby informed the police and rescue teams. They reached the place and shifted them to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced them as brought dead. Police collected the forensic evidences from the crime scene and registered the statements of the eye-witnesses. Police were searching for the unidentified accused.
suicide: A 19-year-old girl committed suicide by swallowing some poisonous pills on a petty dispute in the Shafiqabad police limits on Friday.
Police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy. The deceased was identified as Maria Bibi, a resident of Chiniot.
She had come to visit her brother in Amin Park. She had asked him to buy her a sewing machine. The brother promised her to buy it next month but she stayed adamant. On the day of incident, they exchanged some harsh words on the issue. It infuriated and disappointed her so she took poisonous pills. Her condition deteriorated due to which she was shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced her as brought dead.
Police also reached the place on information, collected forensic evidences from the crime scene, and registered the statements of the eye-witnesses.
Police were further investigating the matter.
dies: A 20-year-old man, who received injuries in a road accident few days before in the Badamibagh police limits, died at a hospital on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Haider.
The victim was going somewhere on his bike. When he reached near Chauhan Road, Band Road, he lost the control of his bike due to speeding. He hit a pole and fell down. He received injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital where he remained under treatment and passed away on Friday.
Police have handed over the body to morgue for autopsy after completing the legal formalities.
Gang smashed: CIA police claimed to have arrested five members of an inter-district car and motorcycle lifting gang and recovered three cars, one Shehzor truck, motorcycles, master-keys, and illegal weapons from their possession on Friday.
The accused were arrested by a special police team.
The accused were identified as Nasar Ullah alias Haji, Arbab Ahmad, Kalim alias Rafloo, Afzal, Faisal, and Muhammad Afzal.
The special team raided a hideout on a tip-off and arrested the accused. They recovered three cars, one Shehzor truck, four motorcycles, master-keys, and illegal weapons from their possession. Police told the press that one accomplice named Arfan had been already killed in a police encounter.
The modus operandi of the accused was to spot a target. They would follow the victim and tell his accomplice his position. Meanwhile, his accomplice would open the lock of bike or car with a master-key and stole the vehicle.
The accused have revealed 31 theft bids in Shahdara, Gujjarpura, Shadbagh, Iqbal Town, Johar Town, Islampura, Chung, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Samanabad, and Jhang. The accused are history sheeters and have been convicted many a time before.
SSP Investigations, Rana Ayaz Salim announced commendatory certificates and cash prizes for the special police team.
open courts: Different police officers held open courts at mosques located in their areas concerned, listened to the complaints of the people, and issued orders to their solution on Friday.
DSP Muslim Town Abdullah Jan held an open court at Jamia Mosque Auqaf; DSP Iqbal Town Shabbir Ahmad at Jamia Msoque Bait-ul-Noor, and DSP Gulshan-e-Ravi Ghulam Abbass Rana at Jamia Mosque Ya Rasool Ullah Gulshan Ravi.
Speaking on the occasion, DIG Operations Dr. Haider Ashraf said they were introducing a computerised system for effective and rapid response on the complaints of the complainants at every police station in the city. He said the police officers had listened to the complaints of more than 5,300 complainants during the open courts.
funeral: Inspector General of Police Punjab Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera attended the funeral of Constable Yunis who was martyred by the firing of an accused during a raid at Baghrian, Green Town, at Qilla Gujjar Singh police lines on Friday.
CCPO Lahore Capt. (r) Amin Wains, DIG Operations Dr. Haider Ashraf, Acting DIG Investigations Rana Ayyaz Salim, SP CIA Umer Virk, SP Headquarters Umer Saeed, and other police officers were also present.
IGP expressed grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of the deceased. He said the Punjab police saluted the martyrs for the sacrifices and the department would always remember his services.
Muhammad Yunis, Belt No. 6183, was appointed at Green Town investigations police. On Thursday, he went on a raid to arrest the accused at Baghrian, Green Town.
The accused opened fire at him. As a result, he received bullet-injuries and got martyred. He was a resident of Madkay Dhariwal, Kasur, and was recruited in 1990 in the Police Department. He is survived by two sons and three daughters.
