LAHORE
An Additional District and Sessions Court on Saturday granted bail to a woman, allegedly involved in crushing two persons to death in a bid to protect herself from a mob in Youhanabad.
The court granted bail to accused Maryam Safdar against a bail bond of Rs100,000. Previously, the accused was on interim bail.
Maryam Safdar submitted in the court that she was innocent and had nothing to do with this case, adding the FIR was totally false, frivolous and concocted. She implored that the FIR had been registered with mala fide intentions and ulterior motives of the complainant as well as the local police.
She submitted she would join the investigation and appear before the court on each and every date of the hearing. According to the FIR lodged by Hameed Masih in the Nishtra Colony police station under section 322,337/G of PPC, the Christian community was staging a protest on Ferozpur Road in connection with twin blasts on churches of Yuhanabad when a car driven by a woman appeared on the road on March 16.
The participants in the protest intercepted her but the woman instead of stopping the car hit the protesters as a result of which his son Amir and Danish Shehbaz died while twelve including Khalid Bashir, Halgar, Haroon, Aman, Shamaoon, Abid, Aqeel, Amir, Tanveer, Riaz, Ansar, Haneef, all belonging to the Christian community, were badly injured.
